Microsoft Preparing Special Surface Tablet Event at Midnight October 26th

Microsoft is preparing for the big unveiling of Windows 8 and its associated tablets, taking place in a special event on October 26th, at midnight, as it was confirmed by MS itself. Microsoft already sent press invitations starting yesterday to the event, taking place in New York and kicking off at 10 am on October 25th and leading up to the midnight debut of the Surface on the 26th.

Other Microsoft Stores will start selling the device on October 26th and I guess that the products may be available as soon as midnight. Seeing how the PR machine over at Redmond works, I expect quite at crowd at the designed location, not an Apple launch type crowd, but still a decent queue of people. Also, it appears that Microsoft has another event ready, one that involves Windows Phone 8 and that one will go down on October 29th in San Francisco, so MS will have a busy end of October, by all indications.

We still have no prices for the Surface Tablet, last detailed by Steve Ballmer as priced at somewhere between $300 and $700 to $800, these being the sweet spot amounts of cash paid for the tablets. So, how much are you ready to shell for a Win RT Surface Tablet? How about the Win 8 Pro one?

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Preparing for US Debut! Here’s What You Need to Know!

On October 24th Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will take off in the United States and you need to know what to expect from this next generation of phablet. The device will debut in USA through a special media event in New York City, taking place on October 24th and the company will release then the final details about carrier availability, on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.

The phablet comes with a 5.5 inch HD display, that offers support for S Pen action and incorporates a quad core processor with 4G LTE data speeds, a combo that in US is hard to find at the moment. Also, the device runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the mystery here is what US carriers will adopt this device in the end. Samsung has already posted a bunch of videos, teasers and detailed hands on videos, to give us an idea of what the phablet is about. We know it has a killer multitasking, a pen with the same amount of pressure levels as the Galaxy Note 10.1, Pop Up Play and the same camera as the Galaxy S III.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 2 will sell like hot cakes, I’m sure of that, since basically the product has no rival and there are people out there who skipped the iPhone 5 and waited for this product. If I can speculate about pricing, well expect something in the range of $299.99 with a 2 year contract and data plan. Rumors say that the unlocked version will set you back $800, so you can get that if you don’t want a commitment.

Asustek Preparing New Smartphones for 2013; PadFone 2 Also Incoming

The ASUS PadFone was met with great feedback when it was launched this year, especially for its revolutionary design, involving a metallic edge and a back cover with very nice texture. Asustek Computer president Jerry Shen detailed the upcoming products during the company investors conference on August 29th. He said that they will launch new smartphones in the second quarter of 2013.  The ASUS PadFone 2 is also supposed to come next year.

Both Android and Windows Phone 8 are being taken into account as alternatives right now. Asustek entered the handset market in 2003 and 2009, working with Garmin to released phones under the Garmin-Asus brand. Later they gave this idea up, in order to leave the market and then they re-entered it with the brilliant PadFone. Many people asked to buy the PadFone by itself, so demand for an ASUS phone is great.

The concern of experts regards the company’s ability to handle component shortages, since the PadFone was affected by Qualcomm processor shortages over the past months. The same situation won’t occur with the second gen PadFone, according to the officials, since ASUS and Qualcomm have strenghtened their relationship. Even a 5 inch device was mentioned, with Shen pointing out that the company is evaluating the entry into this market, so we may see an ASUS phablet at some point.
